Follow the Light: Christmas Eve Treasure Hunt for Kids (Ages 3–12) + Build-a-Nativity

Turn off the lights, grab the flashlights, and follow the Christmas story all through your house! Follow the Light is a Christmas Eve treasure hunt that leads kids through 8 stops in the nativity story, from the angel's visit to Mary all the way to the manger.

At each stop, kids read a short story card with an exact NIV verse, collect a nativity piece, and find the clue to the next stop. They build their own nativity as they go! At the final stop, they place baby Jesus in the manger and discover a secret word: IMMANUEL, God with us.

What's Inside (23 pages)

• A parent welcome guide and a Setup Checklist showing exactly what to hide at each stop
• 8 Story Cards, each with a simple retelling and an exact NIV verse
• 3 sets of clue cards: picture clues (ages 3–5), rhyming clues (ages 6–8), and riddles (ages 9–12)
• Blank clue cards so you can use your own hiding spots
• Light Tracker sheet with a secret-word code
• Build-a-Nativity, two ways: stand-up fold figures, or a Nativity Scene page with matching cutouts (each in color and black & white for coloring)
• Family Blessing page for the final stop, with Scripture, a prayer, and a celebration

Why Families Love It

• Keeps Jesus at the center of Christmas Eve
• Works for siblings of different ages at the same time
• Uses everyday hiding spots (mirror, shoes, bed, front door, lamp, window, toy box, and Christmas tree)
• Works in the dark with flashlights or glow sticks, or in daylight
• Stays true to Scripture, so you won't find a donkey or an innkeeper

Details: Instant PDF download, 8.5 x 11 in. Print on cardstock for the figures and cards. Every verse is quoted exactly from the NIV.

Pairs beautifully with The Light Has Come family Advent devotional, which ends with a Christmas Eve Family Worship Night!
